About
My name is Jai Ivarsson and my story isn't that different from the majority of people. I started life getting into sports and even being quite successful, winning state championships and going on international sporting tours, but since leaving school, and even in my last year of school, my fitness levels have yo-yo'ed up and down with an overall trend spiralling downwards. In 2001 I moved to Auckland, New Zealand and found myself for the first time in 10 years with a work balance that gave me time to train and created a social network around me that was based in triathlon. I slowly found my fitness again to the point where I did a durathlon with both run legs averaging 4 minute 20 second km's (not fast my any standards but I hadn't held that pace for more that 3km since I was 14). Then I started a part time audio engineering course, combined with full time work, suddenly I was heading back down that slope. I kept doing some races here and there and even managed to complete Ironman NZ in 2005 based totally on my fitness base from earlier. However crossing the line in 16 hours 30 minutes, didn't make me feel like an Ironman, not when I know I could have done better.
So at the beginning of 2008, with my internet marketing business up and running I decided to do it again. The plan was for 2009 but between procrastination and getting a wedding video booking I have put it off to 2010. Then I will be working towards full filling the dream I had as a 14 year old, to compete at Kona for World Ironman Championships.
In terms of information, my wife, Sarah, has a sports science degree (works in marketing however, go figure) so she will help me to digest any information that get technical.
So check out the events page for the list of events that I am doing and results should be there too. Also there will be a goals page too so you can see my progress.
Enjoy the journey,
Jai
